Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here!

Creating genuine connections with my clients is at the heart of my business as a professional organizer. I also believe in creating a space of trust and comfortability when working with you because bringing someone into your home and personal space can be a bit scary and overwhelming (don’t worry, the skeleton is not one of my clients). My hope is that this page will help you get to know me a little better, get a sense of whether we’re a “good fit” as they say, feel more connected before our first chat, and maybe even get excited about starting an organizing journey together.

ABOUT ME

I’m the lucky mama, mum, mother, mom, and briefly “bruh”, to two amazing daughters, Kayla Day and Kennedy Rose. I have been a single mom for the majority of their lives and have learned motherhood is amazing and messy all at the same time. To all the mamas, papas, and caretakers out there - I SEE YOU.
I grew up in Western WA and spent summers camping in Eastern WA. While I didn’t LOVE camping with 3 brothers growing up, when I need a reset, my go to is exploring the beauty of Washington, Whidbey Island being a favorite getaway, but, shhh…don’t tell anyone.
I studied dance (my first passion) most of my life and through college in Missouri and Arizona. Dance has been my constant in my life, creating wonderful memories and experiences performing, teaching, and coaching.
I now live in Lynnwood, WA with my partner Tim and my youngest who will head off to college soon and I welcome any advice on empty nesting.
I LOVE to organize, decorate, and all things PROJECTS, but cooking not so much. Oh the nights I’ve wished there was a dinner fairy. I love color and at the same time crave white space for the calm. I’m a sun-seeker and will take any tips you might have for transitioning to fall and darker days. Also, sadly, I just can’t get on the pumpkin spice “everything” train, but give me all the fall colors - YUM!
That’s the nutshell. I’m pretty open and love creating connection through shared experiences so bring on the questions about really anything. :)

MY ORGANIZING JOURNEY

I have been organizing, sorting, and putting like with like for as long as I can remember. Some of my fondest memories are organizing my grandmother’s jewelry drawers and her shoe racks when I was little. She had so many sparkly and colorful things, it felt creative and imaginative to create simplicity and beauty with her things. Since then I’ve never stopped organizing and continually learning how to create efficient systems and solutions to how we manage our things and our surroundings.

I don’t remember exactly when I figured out professional organizing was a thing, but as soon as I knew about it, I wanted to do it. Long before The Home Edit, Marie Kondo, and Hoarders helped make this profession known to the world, I spent a week training in Utah with Clear and Simple Organizing. I learned so much about how to start an organizing business and tricks of the trade with other like-minded ladies and returned home and started A Neat Day, LLC in 2011. At the time I was also a dance and fitness instructor and that business took off and I let go of organizing a few years later knowing one day the time would be right to begin again.

My path as a fitness instructor lead me to run a fitness program in a retirement community. This role reminded me how much I enjoy working one on one with people and making meaningful connections and my work continued in a variety of support roles with older adults and their loved ones. I have been humbled, amazed, and profoundly moved by so many of these interactions. I have witnessed the human spirit continue forward even as we age and face new challenges and transitions, a common one being downsizing and relocating. I hope to bring the awareness and understanding I’ve gained to my organizing clients who may be facing similar life changes.

Fast track to 2023…I had planned to wait until both girls had graduated before starting A Neat Day again, but the spark to begin again was too strong. Covid created time to organize (and re-organize) my home and it’s time to bring my love of organizing to other families and homes. With the wonderful support and business tools from Pro Organizer Studio and Inspired Organizer, I am back!

If you’ve read this far, Thank you! :) My story is not glamorous or particularly fascinating but it is ME, and now we’re friends…or, I’m at least a little more familiar to you. I’m living my dream and can’t wait to share with you something that has brought so much value to my life!
